Within its weathered gates rest the remains of no less than sixteen Shreveport mayors, a Louisiana Supreme Court Justice, and many other prominent Shreveport fathers. The first cemetery was known as the Fannin Street Cemetery. This is intended to be a complete list of the properties and districts on the National Register of Historic Places in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, United States. This nationally recognized cemetery is one of Shreveport’s oldest landmarks, dating back to the 1840s. This monument marks a grassy slope near the Milam Street entrance to Oakland Cemetery, where victims of the city's great Yellow Fever epidemic of October 1873 are buried in a mass grave.
