Digitised copy of the the Sydney Morning Herald (SMH), 1842-1954 via Historic Australian Newspapers, 1803 to 1954, on Trove, hosted by the National Library of Australia. Use the SMH archives in conjunction with the Ryerson Index to locate death notices. This project has grown into the Ryerson Index which now (July 2013) indexes death notices and obituaries in 222 newspapers and has over 4,000,000 entries. All content is fully searchable including birth, death and marriage notices. Death notices are paid announcements that appear in the classified section of the Sydney Morning Herald and online. Breaking news from Sydney, Australia and the world. Trove - The National Library of Australia, in collaboration with Australian State and Territory libraries, runs the Australian Newspaper Digitization Program with the aim of making as many publications available online as possible. The Index also includes many funeral notices, and some probate notices and obituaries.
